Despite challenging circumstances, the restoration of an impressive historic Dublin building has been completed.

The €4.8m restoration scheme at 114 Grafton Street has seen the property transformed into a prime commercial property at the heart of the city.

Original features in the protected building were restored, including its stone facade, internal columns in the main hall and a wooden staircase.

The premises, owned by Irish Life, now offers 1,400 square meters of retail space.

Architectural services were provided by Fitzgerald Kavanagh and Partners. Irish Life commissioned Healy Kelly Turner and Townsend to oversee cost management on the scheme.

Designers, working on the refurbishment, managed to overcome restricted access in parts of the building, which coupled with interior demolition, created a challenge to completed the development on time and within budget.
