Arklow Town Council has approved planning permission for a new residential development at Ballyraine Middle and Upper.
Developer Harry Kavanagh submitted the planning proposals last summer. Last week the application was granted permission.
The construction scheme must adhere to a number of planning conditions outlined by the council.
One hundred and eighty five homes will be built as part of the development. The houses will include duplex and apartment buildings.
A new access/relief road linking Vale Road to Lamberton, will also be built, along with a crèche.
Meanwhile, flood prevention works in Greystones are still underway, the council has been told.
Speaking to councillors, the Town Engineer Eoin Breslin said he was continuing to implement a range of flood prevention methods including installing double gutters.
The works are aimed at diverting excess water to nearby streams before it reaches the village.
