Work To Begin On Decentralisation Town Hall Project

Over 400 building jobs are to be created when a decentralisation building scheme gets underway at Carlow's town hall later this month, it has been announced.

The two-year long development has been welcomed by Town Clerk Joe Watters.

He said: "The initial impact will be fantastic for the town."


Mr Watter referred to the loss of car parking spaces in the area.

"However we can't have eggs without breaking shells," said Mr Watters.

He said he had met with owner of the Royal Hotel car park and agreed that spaces will be provided for €13 a week or €3 a day.

The completed decentralisation development will boast a 400 space multi store car park, 150 which will replace the spaces lost and the rest will be available to the public outside working hours.
