A £2m development at Solitude Park in Banbridge is progressing well, the local council has said.
The footbridge project has now reached the stage where it is necessary to close off the facility to the general public, until further notice.
Upgrade works to the footbridge, which crosses the River Bann, are being carried out as part of the park’s major enhancement scheme.
The scheme, which began last May and is costing £2 million to complete, is well on track to being completed on time, according to Banbridge Council.
A spokesman said the project would be finished "within budget and to a very high standard".
The footbridge, which will be painted and redecked, will complement other improvement work within the park.
It is anticipated that the footbridge will reopen in May 2009.
The council has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
