A County Tyrone quarry owner was fined £5,000 plus £29 court costs at Dungannon Magistrates' court on 9 March 2009 for a waste offence.
Mr Robert Donaghy, 63, of Coolreaghs Road, Cookstown, was fined for one charge of breaching of waste management legislation.
On 25 April 2007 officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, (NIEA) - formerly the Environment and Heritage Service - inspected a disused quarry at the junction of Esker and Doones Road in Orritor, which was being used as an illegal land fill site for construction and demolition waste.
The charge related to knowingly permitting controlled waste to be deposited in or on land unless a waste management licence authorising the deposit is in force and the deposit in accordance with the licence.
