Irish Education Minister Batt O'Keeffe has officially opened a new extension in Slieverue National School, County Kilkenny.
The school was allocated €360,000 enabling it to build two extra classrooms and two resource rooms.
Speaking at the school, Minister O'Keeffe said parents and the local community had worked tirelessly to progress the project.
"Today marks the culmination of a lot of planning and hard work and represents hope and confidence in the future.
"I'd like to congratulate Slieverue National School on its success of its hurling teams.
"Participation in sports brings an appreciation of personal health and fitness, develops a positive self-image and teaches young people how to work as part of a team," said Mr O'Keeffe.
Earlier in the day Minister O'Keeffe visited Coláiste Cois Siúire Vocational School, Mooncoin.
