A £185,000 improvement scheme to fit new kitchens in 45 Housing Executive properties in the Portadown area has got underway.
The homes are located in Watson Grove, Hampton Court, Clanroy Avenue, Clanroy Close, Charles Street and Old Rectory Park.
Work will include full kitchen replacement and will in some cases involve minor structural work to improve kitchen layouts, as well as upgrading electrical wiring in the kitchen and fitting smoke alarms and heat detectors.
District Manager Colin Ross said: "It is great for the local residents that this scheme has commenced. Staff in the local office have involved residents from the outset discussing the proposals with them and giving everyone involved an opportunity to choose from a selection of kitchen finishes and colours.
"The work is to be carried out by Bann Limited, our Egan Contractor for this type of scheme. As an Egan contract, quality and consultation with customers at all stages are key to the success."
He added: "Schemes of this nature are an important element of the Housing Executive’s objective to improve living conditions for its tenants, and, I am confident that this work will make a difference for these tenants in Portadown."
