Irish Communities Minister Éamon Ó Cuív has allocated €383,712 to enable Coiste Pobail Chill Chiaráin, in Co Galway, to carry out improvement works on the community hall.
A grant of €319,760 is being sanctioned under the Improvements Scheme and a grant of €63,952 under the CLÁR Programme.
As part of the works to be carried out, a new roof will replace the asbestos roof, a new heating system will be installed and the building will be rewired.
The building will also be customized for use by the disabled and restoration work will be carried out on the car park.
Announcing the grant, the Minister said that he is very happy that his Department can assist with the restoration of the building because of the excellent work carried out there.
"From a health and safety perspective, it is vital that this work be done.
"This, in turn, will mean greater use of the amenity. Also, this building is very important to the Irish Language Summer College," the Minister said.
