Public Works Minister Martin Mansergh has said his department will revealed the preferred bidder for the Fermoy North Flood Relief Scheme works next week.
The Junior Minister welcomed the issuing of 'letters of intent' as part of the tending process.
He said: "Following on from a public tender competition, I am pleased to announce that my department has now selected the preferred bidder for this flood relief scheme and have notified all contractors of our intention to award this contract, following the 'cooling-off' period, on 10 June."
The Minister added: "Having visited Fermoy, and indeed many others areas that have been the subject of flooding on several occasions, I am pleased that this contract will now be awarded and works will begin as promised.
"I have been able to maintain a high level of funding for this programme despite the current economic difficulties, and I know that overall funding for both this stage and the full project will be made available."
