A radical new build at Dublin's developing docklands has been shortlisted for a prestigious design award.
Plans for the Sean O'Casey Community Centre were put together by O'Donnell and Tuomey Architects, who will now vie for the Royal Institute of British Architects' (RIBA) Lubetkin Prize for architecture.
Competition for the award is stiff, with the National Stadium in Beijing by Herzog & de Meuron; Foster and Partners' Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal; the British High Commission in Colombo by Richard Murphy Architects; Museum Brandhorst in Munich by Sauerbuch Hutton and the Watercube; National Swimming Centre in Beijing by PTW Architects, among the contenders.
The winner will be announced next month in London.
RIBA president Sunand Prasad has visited all of the shortlisted building, along with Paul Monaghan, chair of RIBA Awards Group and Tony Chapman, RIBA Head of Awards.
The three men will give their views to the jury, which includes architect Farshid Moussavi and Tom Dyckhoff of The Times.
Lubetkin was a Georgia-born architect, who worked in Paris before coming to London in the 1930s to establish the high-regarded Tecton Group.
