A newly developed garden has been opened at Sacred Heart National School in Clondalkin.
The garden - called The Heart of Sruleen - was developed using donations from various local businesses including Clondalkin Credit Union, Clondalkin Builders Providers and Green Park Chemist.
Vegetables, herbs and flowers have been planted by school children, as part of a green initiative at the school.
Recent research by An Taisce on the economic value of the Green Schools Programme revealed over aminimum €2m in waste, electricity, water and fuel costs have been saved this year.
The Green Schools Programme is being extended across south Dublin.
To date 51 of 100 primary Schools in the county have been awarded the Green Flag from An Taisce, and seven of the 34 local secondary schools have also pick-up the accolade.
