Launching 'STRIVE - Innovation for a Green Economy - Environment and Technology: A Win-Win Story', Minister John Gormley acknowledged EPA's positive commitment to environmental research.
The Minister discussed the contribution environmental research is making to the development of Ireland's Smart economy.
"Environmental research and innovation can not only equip us with the tools to address the environmental challenges we face, but can turn these challenges into real opportunities."
STRIVE (Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for the Environment ) provides a snapshot of the types of environmental technologies and cleaner production research funded by EPA so far, along with details of the next steps in the area.
"The work funded through the STRIVE programme is showing us how to respond to environmental problems in a new and creative manner, employing solutions generated by research initiated and progressed right here in Ireland," said Mr Gormley.
The Minister lauded EPA for the compilation of the report showcasing the innovative research and development being carried out under the STRIVE programme.
He also thanked the research teams involved for their invaluable contribution to the government’s effort to protect and enhance the quality of our environment for all.
