Bodyke National School, in Co Clare, has been approved funding to undertake a number of small-scale works.
The Department of Education and Science grant aid will allow for the replacement of windows and doors, works to external walls and external works to existing rooms.
"In excess of 40 students attend Bodyke National School, which was built in 1881. Once completed, the renovation works will allow teachers in the two classrooms and one resource room to conduct their work in a more modern environment," said Clare TD Tony Killeen. "The replacement of windows and doors, in particular, will further improve the overall energy efficiency of the building."
He said Bodyke N.S. was the fourth Clare school in as many weeks to be allocated funds by the Department for such works.
"The Building Unit of the Department of Education has informed me that it will be in contact with the school authority shortly in relation to the amount of funding approved," added Mr Killeen.
