The construction industry has a crucial role to play in Ireland's economic recovery, according to the Zurich LAMA awards' organisers.
Making its call for 2010 nominations, the Local Authority Members Association and Zurich said it is important to continue to highlight the achievements of individuals and initiatives benefiting communities across the country.
The awards recognise excellence in construction at local, county and national level.
Conor Brennan, Director of Broker Distribution at Zurich, said: "The Zurich LAMA Awards are an appropriate acknowledgement of well planned and expertly executed construction projects which enhance our daily lives.
"So, whether it’s a civic building of merit, an innovative leisure facility or an inspired social amenity, it is now more important than ever to continue to celebrate excellence in this industry."
This year the categories have been revamped and revised to reflect climate conditions and to enhance the awards.
There are twenty categories in total and new categories include a National Impact Award, which will reward the best nationwide development.
A Winners’ Leader Board will also be launched to showcase the counties with the most winning projects since the awards began in 2007.
Last year hundreds of nominations were received from councillors all over Ireland.
The Zurich LAMA Awards 2010 short-list will be announced this November and winners will be revealed at a black-tie gala in Dublin on Saturday, 30 January 2010.
