Toilet upgrade works worth £152,000 have got underway in Banbridge.
Existing facilities at Dromore Town Hall have been closed to facilitate the works.
However, two temporary toilets have been provided within the town hall’s grounds to minimise disruption to the public.
A contractor will maintain and clean these toilets twice a day, Banbridge District Council said.
Expected to be complete in November, the refurbishment work will result in more attractive, modern and fully automated facilities that will be easier to use and maintain, according to the council.
The toilets and wash hand basins will automatically flush after use and the lights and fan will automatically come on when the toilet is in use.
The council is keen to deter vandalism, and has approved new vandal-resistant fittings and finishes and the doors for the facilities, which will be made of steel with a timber frame similar in style to the town hall’s doors.
Three toilets cubicles will be provided with one being designed specifically for disabled users. The other two cubicles may be used by any member of the public.
