Antrim Borough Council has become the first local authority to issue a flooding advice booklet.
The multi-agency Flooding Information Booklet is designed to ensure that households which are most likely to suffer the effects of flooding have all the necessary advice, information and telephone numbers.
Alison Briggs, Emergency Planning Co-ordinator with the council said: "Our main concern is for our residents who have suffered or may suffer in the future from the damaging effects of a flood on their home or property.
"We felt it was important to work with the other agencies involved to produce a booklet which will help plan, prepare and protect against this devastating force of nature."
Antrim Mayor Adrian Cochrane-Watson said: "Since the impact of flooding are so upsetting, it is important that those whose properties are at risk take appropriate action to withstand flooding and this booklet contains everything they need to know."
He said the council would continue to work with DRD Roads Service, Rivers Agency, NI Water, NI Housing Executive, NI Fire & Rescue Service, PSNI and the Met Office to ensure "a united response to flood emergencies".
