Over half a million pounds has been made available for rural upgrade works in parts of the north west.
The funding has been granted by the Region Rural Development Programme and will focus on the council areas of Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine, Larne and Moyle.
Monies were secured through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), and will be invested in a wide range of schemes.
One measure under the funding plans has a global budget of £500,000 and will assess project applications that address monument and heritage site conservation and protection.
As well as improving access, signage and information of heritage sites. Funding will also go towards the celebrations of culture, history and heritage, and exploration of natural built and maritime environment, the development body said.
The launch of the measures will take place in Portballintrae Community Centre, Protballintrae on the 1 September 2009 at 7 pm.
