Further works as part of the Strandhill waste water treatment project and subsequent coastal protection scheme have been proposed by Sligo County Council.
The works at Killaspugbrone will involved the construction of 260 linear metres of augmented storm beach essentially comprising 1.5 - 2 tonne rock armour, laid to a compatible shoreline gradient of 1 vertical to 6 horizontal.
This will be finished on the landward side by a short portion of larger rocks laid to a steeper gradient, at the top of which will be located a stone faced concrete stub wall, to the adjusted dune crest level, landward of which a coastal path will be constructed.
The proposed development consists of the carrying out of works within SAC No. 00627.
Plans and particulars relating to the proposed development are available for inspection at Sligo County Hall.
