Final consultation has been opened on revised building legislation.
Launching the process, Daíl Environment Minister John Gormley said the review of Part M of the building regulations relates to the access of facilities in new buildings.
The regulations will also stretch to existing buildings when extended or materially altered, and certain other amendments in respect of new dwellings.
The proposed amendment will come into effect on 1 July 2010.
Minister Gormley has published the Draft Building Regulations (Part M Amendment) Regulations 2009; Draft Technical Guidance Document M (Access and Use); and Summary of Regulatory Impact Assessment.
Mr Gormley said he welcomed submissions on the proposals from all interested parties.
