A £20,000 refurbishment project has commenced at Annacurra Community Centre in Co Wicklow.

Works have been undertaken to restore and improve the building, which will allow it to house more local community activities.

Locals have been central in raising funds to carry out to scheme, with the hall's chairperson insisting it's still very much "all hands on deck".

Deron Keating told the Bray People: "It really needed to be fixed up as you could see daylight through the roof. As there is a crèche operating there, it was not ideal to have it in such a poor state."

Fundraising began last year, and despite a large portion of the costs already gathered, Mr Keating said the coffers still need a boost to ensure other outstanding jobs are carried out before they become "massive repair jobs".
