Refurbishment works have commenced at Ballyfermot Public Library in Dublin.
Essential roof repairs will be undertaken as part of the scheme.
The city council approved the access works under grant aid from the DOEHLG National Disability Strategy 2009.
"Roof repairs were conducted as required over the years, but the nature of the current works programme requires that customers and staff should not be on site for health and safety reasons during the refurbishment," said a council spokesman.
A contingency services is available at Ballyfermot Civic Centre, Ballyfermot Road.
"All interested parties and local groups were advised in advance of the closure including two groups operating from offices at the library," added the spokesman.
