'Landmark' 37-Storey Dublin Hotel Plans Refused

Plans for Ireland's tallest hotel now seem to be just 'pie in the sky' after being refused planning permission by Dublin City Council.

The 35-storey development, proposed by Treasury Holdings, was set to provide hotel space for the nearby National Conference Centre, currently being built in the Docklands area.

However the 152-metre structure has been slammed by the city council for being too tall.

The high-rise hotel had been billed as a 'landmark indicator' in the city, when original proposals were brought forward at the end of last year.

Treasury Holdings planned to build on a site of less than 0.20 hectares at North Wall Quay/Guild Street on Spencer Dock.

The eventual scheme would have offered around 427-bedrooms, a fitness suite, swimming pool, cafes and a winter garden.
