Over £400,000 is to be spent improving NI Housing Executive kitchens in the Lower Ormeau area of south Belfast.
The works will be carried out on 88 homes, and completed by contractor PK Murphy under the EGAN style.
Most of the homes involved were built by us between 1977 and 1984 and have been improved on a regular basis, Housing Executive said.
As part of the current scheme new kitchens are being provided and one to one consultation is being carried out by a customer service manager prior to work starting.
Electrical and plumbing installations will be upgraded as part of the scheme, including the provision of new sockets and a cooker hood.
New floor covering and mechanical extractor fans will also be provided and smoke alarms will be fitted in homes that don't already have one.
Assistant District Manager for south Belfast, Francie Brown, said Housing Executive is committed to ensuring that tenants’ homes continue to meet modern day standards.
"The provision of new kitchens is an excellent way of achieving this.
"However, it is equally important that the service we provide is the best it can be in terms of quality, efficiency, value for money and customer satisfaction," he said.
"An EGAN contract requires high performance standards from the contractor and indeed we are aiming for zero defects."
