Waterways Ireland is undertaking substantial works on Dublin's Royal Canal.
The main elements are surveys for the purpose of excavation, maintain and remove water management system through site of works and remove all excess bed material including hazardous, non hazardous and inert waste and to dispose of all excavated material appropriately in accordance with relevant legislation.
The work will then mean fitting a LDPE liner to the canal bed and slopes and to import and place puddle clay to create impermeable clay liner and execute works to consider the heritage value of the canal, e.g. protection of the original canal liner and avoidance of damage to the existing structures.
Contractors will also undertake the transportation of excess material from site to an agreed traffic management plan, with the full compliance Dublin City Council requirements and to maintain access for local residents. The work relevant to the contracts shall be as fully described and detailed in the tender documents.
