Construction News Image
The Association for Project Management (APM) has recognised the first Northern Ireland recipients of its new APM Registered Project Professional (RPP) designation.

Local APM members, Leslie Warren, Paul Cooke and John Arbuckle were professionally certified after demonstrating their capability of being a responsible leader and being able to manage a complex project using appropriate tools, processes and techniques.

Recipient Leslie Warren, who is also the current Chair of APM's Northern Ireland branch said: "It is important that those working within project management across all sectors are assessed and accredited on an ongoing basis. We work in a very competitive and challenging environment, therefore it is vital that the quality and standard of the work provided is monitored and maintained at a certified level.

"There has never been a more important time for the project management profession – the scale, complexity and significance of the projects currently in implementation and in planning, the financial pressures which surround us, the ever-increasing level of public and media scrutiny and growing intolerance of failure, all mean that effective project management is centre stage in the economy as never before."

APM Registered Project Professional is a pan-sector standard for anyone with experience of managing others in a complex project environment regardless of their professional background or qualifications.

All candidates must demonstrate capability in 29 core competences and knowledge of 18 complementary competences.

To be recognised on the APM Register of Project Professionals candidates will also be required to maintain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually in accordance with the APM CPD scheme and adhere to the APM Code of Professional Conduct through APM membership.

Successful candidates are entered onto the APM Register of Project Professionals. The register will demonstrate to users of project management services and the wider public those professionals who have met the standard for APM Registered Project Professional.
