A new Product Guide for 2013 is available from Fantech Ventilation containing a comprehensive range of ventilation products, many of which are compliant with the new Energy related Products (ErP) Directive, the first tier of which came into force on 1 January, 2013.
Fantech are part of the international Elta Group and the Product Guide has been timed to coincide with Elta’s first phase of compliant products introduced to the market following the launch of a number of new products in early 2012 in preparation for the new legislation. The 530 page Product Guide provides comprehensive details of the fans now covered in the Elta Select range, from axial flow, centrifugal and mixed flow fans to destratification, heat recovery units and many more. The introduction of the axial fans in this phase is particularly important given the significant impact the ErP Directive is having for these products.
Managing Director of Fantech, Brendan O'Toole, recognises that the catalogue has a role to play beyond just outlining what fans are available to meet the new legislation – "with any new legislation there is inevitably some confusion surrounding what the new requirements are. We have therefore been very conscious to make the catalogue informative, with a number of features that will help people to understand the key issues and how to specify fans accordingly."
These features include a section devoted to the explanation of new fan labelling requirements, terminologies and efficiencies: the latter being particularly important in light of the new legislation. Fan Motor Efficiency Grade (FMEG), along with Specific Fan Power (SFP), are two criteria on which fans are now selected, allowing the correct fan to be identified for a given application. To further assist in this process, the catalogue includes a guide on how to select a fan utilising performance curves, guidance on common installation categories as well as icons applied to the products to enable easy identification of the applications for which they are designed.
The development of the new axial fans introduced in Phase 2, features impellers developed by Elta's own design team, drawing on over 35 years of design and engineering experience to ensure optimum performance and maximum energy efficiency inline with the requirements of the ErP Directive.
Certain products introduced feature the FE2owlet impeller from Ziehl-Abegg, successfully introduced in the Phase 1 products and now being employed further across the latest product ranges. The Product Guide explains the technology behind the impeller, a completely new blade geometry which excels in terms of low noise emission, reliability and high efficiency.
The Vpro backward curved impeller from Ziehl-Abegg is a further feature across the new range, its capabilities extending to roof, box and duct mounted products. Combined with the expertise of Elta Fans' R&D department these products are engineered specifically toward compliance with future Lots which are to be added to the ErP legislation in the near future.
