Property Tax Payment To Be Discussed

Labour TD and Chairman of Finance Committee, Ciaran Lynch, is to invite the Revenue Commissioner Josephine Feehily before the Committee to discuss ongoing challenges surrounding the payment of the 2014 Local Property Tax.

Mr Lynch said: "I will be contacting the Revenue Commissioner this week to invite her in before the Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform to discuss the structure, timing and operation of the property tax for 2014.


"The purpose of the meeting is to deal with any ambiguities or concerns in regard to the payment of the LPT, and in some circumstances to establish how the issue of premature payments is dealt with, and to also to discuss how the payment of the LPT is made when it actually due.

"The concerns that I have heard expressed by the public over the last couple of weeks are not an issue of compliance, but an issue of a requirement for good customer services, in which people who wish to pay the tax want to make the payment when the payment falls due. "
