The Office of Public Works (OPW) has allocated €202,677 to Roscommon County Council for flood mitigation works.
The work is to be carried out on Four Roads in south Roscommon.
Fine Gael Roscommon/South Leitrim TD, Frank Feighan has welcomed the funding.
He said: "Last September, I travelled with Brian Hayes, who was then the Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW, to meet a Four Roads delegation who highlighted the need for urgent funding to address flooding issues in the area.
"The community suffered a particularly horrendous time in 2009 when homes and the road were submerged in water due to a burst spring. This flooding caused untold damage and stress for many people."
