Nest Labs is preparing to launch the Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Protect: Smoke + Carbon Monoxide alarm in Ireland later this month.
Nest products will initially be sold in approximately 400 retail stores across Europe with another 150 stores to be added by the end of the year.
Nest also announced three new European energy partnerships, adding Direct Energie, Essent and Lampiris, to offer more people the opportunity to save energy as part of their energy plans.
"The Nest Thermostat and Nest Protect are already helping people throughout the US, Canada and the UK save energy, stay comfortable, and improve home safety," said Lionel Paillet, General Manager of Europe, Nest. "While Nest products are currently sold in just three countries, there's high demand for them around the world. In fact, Nest products have been installed by people in more than 120 countries and Nest Thermostats have already saved an estimated two billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy compared to what their owners would have spent on heating and cooling at a constant temperature.
"That's enough energy to power 180,000 American homes for a year. Imagine what energy savings and safety improvements can be achieved now that Nest products will be available in – and customized for – France, Netherlands, Belgium and Ireland."
In preparation for the launch of its products in France, Netherlands, Belgium and Ireland, Nest customized not only the products – including recording local actors for the voice of the Nest Protect alarm – but marketing, packaging and the company's online and retail presence as well.
Customer support will be available in local languages and Nest is partnering with professional installers and energy companies in each country to bring the best experience to customers.
