A man from County Antrim has been given a suspended sentence for waste offences at Coleraine Magistrates' Court today.
Mr Jonathan Stevenson from Portrush was given two four month sentences (suspended for three years).
Mr Stevenson was also ordered to pay a compensation order of £826. The charges related to two breaches of waste management legislation.
In April and July 2013, officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) investigated an unlicensed site operated by Mr Stevenson at 92 Main Street Bushmills.
They found a substantial quantity of waste plastic, polystyrene, baled wood and domestic waste. Officers revisited the site again in November 2013 and found an increase in the amount of waste on site.
