Emergency Dept Upgrade Works To Be Complete Next Year

The upgrade works at the Emergency Department in the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingare are expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2016.

€300,000 has been included in the HSE's Service Plan for next year to help complete the €3.6 million upgrade.

Longford/Westmeath Fine Gael TD, Gabrielle McFadden, welcomed the announcement.

He said: "Having lobbied Health Minister Leo Varadkar very hard to help secure the investment to carry out these important works, I am delighted to see this significant project now in its final stages.

"Minister Varadkar has confirmed to me that the upgrade works will be completed in the first quarter of 2016 and we all look forward to a refurbished A&E which will mean a better layout for both patients and staff."
