Sinn Féin has described the way the Government has treated the Moore Street site in Dublin as "unforgivable".
Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald was speaking at the High Court today, 16 February, ahead of the Moore Street case being heard.
She said: "Moore Street is one of the most historic sites on the island and needs to be preserved for future generations.
"Nowhere else in the world would a government treat such an iconic site so appallingly.
"Sinn Féin in Government would not abandon our heritage.
"We would protect and restore the entire Moore Street Terrace and establish a Revolutionary Quarter in this area including the National Monument, the entire street, the laneways of history, the market traders, and even up into Parnell Square, the Rotunda and the Garden of Remembrance."
