Irish energy firm ESB has issued a warning to Donegal residents after reports of fraudulent calls to homes purporting to be employees from the company.

ESB said all of its employees and contractors carry identification and are calling on residents to be vigilant.

The firm said: "In the case of someone calling to a home who claims to work for or on behalf of ESB, we would ask the public to always ask for identification. If any doubts remain, the local Garda station should be contacted."
