A new Central Library and Cultural Centre based in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, has scooped two prestigious awards.
The dlr LexIcon development won the Selwyn Goldsmith Award for International Design and the National Panel Special Award at the 2016 Civic Trust Awards in London
The awards are the longest standing built environment awards scheme in Europe.
The two awards were presented to the dlr LexIcon, designed by architects Carr, Cotter & Naessens Ltd, for demonstrating outstanding credentials in the area of universal design.
An Cathaoirleach, Cllr Barry Saul, said: "The dlr LexIcon is the most significant piece of public infrastructure in Dún Laoghaire for over 100 years. It is the single biggest investment by the Council in a civic amenity. I am delighted that it has received these prestigious awards in recognition of its design."
