An Alliance Party MLA has called on the Infrastructure Minister to invest more money to repair roads throughout the North Down area in Northern Ireland.
Mr Stephen Farry made the call after Minister Chris Hazzard announced £245,000 worth of road improvements for Cotton village, just outside Donaghadee.
Mr Farry welcomed the announcement however he said said more still needs to be done to significantly improve the road infrastructure.
He said: "This announcement is certainly welcome in terms of the immediate Donaghadee area but it is only the latest step in what needs to be a bigger programme of maintenance throughout the North Down area.
"It is not enough to just fix roads when they have fallen into disrepair but rather we need a strategic, forward-thinking plan that creates an effective and efficient strategy for dealing with road repairs. That will ensure we will not need to spend as much public money on roads in future, as well as making them safer for drivers."
