Planning permission has been approved to expand Apple's European Head Office in Cork.
The work is expected to create an additional 1,000 jobs and around 200 construction posts.
An Bord Pleanála gave the go-ahead to the project which includes a four-storey office block and over 750 car parking spaces.
Fianna Fáil TD, Michael Martin, welcomed the announcement.
He said: "This is fantastic or Cork. An extra 1000 high quality, well paying jobs for local people is prove-positive of the potential in, and around Cork City, for both large multinationals and local, indigenous enterprises," said the Cork South Central TD.
"Bringing the total workforce to over 6000 by mid 2017, this expansion will support job creation in the local economy. Research, undertaken by the IDA, has shown that for every 10 jobs created by Foreign Direct Investment; an additional four jobs are created in local enterprises."
