Fianna Fáil is "bitterly disappointed" that no progress has been made on the development of Metro North in Dublin.
Dublin Fingal TD Darragh O'Brien has called on the Government to provide an update on the promised link to the airport which was outlined in the Infrastructure & Capital Investment Plan 2016 – 2021.
He said: "Fine Gael and Labour broke their firm promise to deliver the Metro in the last election. At that time Metro North had a comprehensive business analysis, planning permission and a Railway Order, with a capacity of 20,000 passengers per hour. Metro North was ready to begin works.
"The Dublin Metro is absolutely essential for our ever-growing city, most particularly in North County, the fastest-growing county in the country. Meanwhile, Dublin Airport continues to experience strong growth in volumes, with the latest observation breaking the previous record.
"There has been absolutely no action over the past five years to deliver on shovel-ready plans for the project even after announcing a scaled back version with no business case analysis and that has yet to go through the planning process."
