Irish Water has confirmed it is working in partnership with Mayo County Council to replace a defective water main in Ballina.
Customers are facing an ongoing problem of regular bursts.
Since the beginning of February 2017, 167 metres of defective water main have been replaced and it is intended that a further 380 metres will be replaced by Mayo County Council's operational team starting in early May.
The remaining pipeline will be replaced by a contractor and contract documents will be prepared with a view to tendering later in the year.
Irish Water issued an apology to customers who have been adversely affected by disruption to their water supply as a result of the bursts.
