Dr. Sharon McGuinness has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Health and Safety Authority (HSE).
Dr. McGuinness took up her new position on 01 July following the retirement of Martin O'Halloran.
Welcoming the appointment, Minister of State for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection, Pat Breen, said: "Dr. Sharon McGuinness has a proven track record in the Health and Safety sector with extensive experience in both Ireland and Europe. In addition to being Assistant Chief Executive of the Health and Safety Authority for several years she has also held the position of Chairperson of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). She brings considerable experience to her new role.
"I wish Sharon all the best in her new role and have every confidence that the Health and Safety Authority will prosper under her leadership and she will take the organization into a new phase of development against the background of a challenging and changing economy and work environment in Ireland."
