Ward & Burke Group is working on behalf of Irish Water to deliver a major wastewater scheme in Cork.
The work is taking place to end the decades-long practice of discharging untreated sewage into Cork Lower Harbour.
An application for two road closures was made and Cork County Council granted permission for temporary road closures for the works as follows:
• Part 1 is now complete. This involved closing 40m of the road at Toureen Terrace from 1 October to 16 October. The road was re-opened on 12 October.
• Part 2 is currently ongoing. While no road closure is necessary, one lane is open at that section of the road, Toureen Terrace on Cork Street, and traffic lights are in place. Works are progressing as planned and the expected completion date for this part of the works is 19 October.
• Part 3 will involve closing the road from Toureen Terrace to Comminutor (between Oysterhaven Boats and the Men's Shed). It is expected that the road will be closed from 22 October to 16 November.
