Waterford Playschool Awarded Funding For Redevelopment

A playschool in County Waterford has secured funding to support a small development project.

The Ionad an Naíonra playschool in Sean Phobail was awarded a grant of up to €6,955, or 95% of the overall cost, to build a new fence.

Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Seán Kyne TD announced the funding yesterday, 17 December.

The Committee of Naíonra an tSeanphobail will deliver the project, which will ensure there will be a safe place available for children to play outside.

It will replace the existing wooden fence which has rotten.

Minister Kyne said: "It is my pleasure to announce the approval of funding for the Committee of Naíonra an tSeanphobail. The importance attached to early years education is recognised by my Department, and the promise given to us in the Action Plan for the Irish language that we will be strengthening early years facilities available to the Gaeltacht community in upcoming years."
