Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has launched a new scheme to help support rural villages and settlements.
The Rural Settlements Environmental Improvement Scheme aims to boost the enhancement and improvement of the borough's small rural areas.
The scheme is open to villages with a population of less than 1,000 people.
Recognised community groups can apply for funding between £5,000 and £15,000 for works including the installation of village welcome signs, street furniture including seats, litter bins, notice boards and any other minor improvement projects.
Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Julie Flaherty commented: "With their unique heritage and welcoming character, our small rural villages enhance the distinctive character of our borough. I am delighted to see the launch of this scheme, which will add to the appearance of these very important areas as well as encourage investment in our rural communities that will no doubt benefit residents, visitors and businesses."
Successful applications will be notified in the summer, with works due to be complete by the autumn.
Applications for the Rural Settlements Environmental Improvement Scheme will close at 4pm on Thursday 18 April.
