Contract Awarded For Fingal Playgrounds

Construction News Image
A contractor has been appointed to bring forward the development of four new playgrounds in the Fingal area.

Creative Play Solutions secured the contract for the €400,000 playgrounds following a competitive tender process.

The playground specialist will now construct the facilities at Quay Street and Bandstand Park Balbriggan, Lusk Recreational Hub and Skerries Town Park.

The firm was selected due to its success delivering the award-winning playgrounds in Willie Pearse Park and Griffeen Valley Park in Dublin. The design of the new playgrounds was also commended for reflecting and complimenting the character of each site.

The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Eoghan O'Brien, said: "Myself and my fellow councillors are always pleased when plans that we have supported for new community facilities move to the construction phase. These new playgrounds will add greatly to the existing community facilities in Balbriggan, Lusk and Skerries and will provide a lot of enjoyment to many families when they are completed."

Kevin Halpenny, Senior Parks Superintendent for Fingal County Council, added: "These playgrounds have been planned and designed following very extensive consultation with the local communities and their involvement has been of great benefit to the process."

Construction work will commence late this year with the first playground due to open early next year and all four playgrounds in operation by the end of 2020.
