Greenvale Leisure Centre in County L'Derry is set for a major £250,000 revamp with the transformation of its fitness suite.
These works form part of the next phase of Mid Ulster District Council's investment programme in leisure services.
Refurbishment work will begin on Thursday 23 September to replace equipment in the Greenvale suite, including existing treadmills and cross trainers. It will also include the addition of new CV (cardiovascular) and strength equipment including step mills and Jacobs ladders; the redesign of the functional and HIIT training areas; installation of new flooring and redecoration of the space, with the gym closing temporarily for two weeks to facilitate the upgrade.
Welcoming the investment in Greenvale, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Paul McLean said: "We're committed to offering the best facilities to our customers so these refurbishment works are absolutely essential as modern fitness trends and expectations evolve. In recent years, the Council has invested heavily in improving our leisure facilities across Mid Ulster, and most recently in Greenvale Leisure Centre just last August when a complete refurbishment of its spin studio was a big hit with members.
"We apologise for the brief closure of the fitness suite, but assure all our customers that they will see the benefits of our investment as soon as it reopens."
The fitness suite will close from Thursday 23 September to Tuesday 12 October, reopening on Monday 13 October.
