Plans to bring over 1,000 new homes to Kilcarbery in Clondalkin are continuing to progress.
Work is already underway on site to deliver 250 homes, with the first social homes due for completion in the second quarter of 2022. The 600 private homes include a comprehensive range of three and four-bed houses as well as one, two and three-bed apartments.
South Dublin County Council is progressing the joint venture development, which also includes a community building, crèche and retail unit.
During a visit to the site in 2021, Minister Darragh O'Brien said: "This mixed tenure development which will provide 310 social homes, reflects the Government's commitment to providing homes for families in their area of choice further empowering people to stay in their communities and safeguard the quality of life for all who live within them. Schemes such as this one here in Kilcarbery are exactly what we want to see replicated across the country, delivering a mix of homes, built to a very high standard, at affordable prices.
"I would like to commend South Dublin County Council on bringing these projects to fruition. They are also continuing in their plans to develop more affordable housing across South County Dublin with the support of my Department."
The Kilcarbery development is just one site where the Council is working to deliver affordable homes in South Dublin County. The Council has put plans in the pipeline to deliver 620 new homes at Killinarden in Tallaght. The integrated mixed tenure five-year development is heavily weighted towards the provision of affordable purchase homes with 60% of the development projected to sell for an average of €250,000 or less per home, with 20% to be delivered as social housing.
