Waterford City & County Council has welcomed expressions of interests in Town Centre First Funds from established village/town committees requiring assistance with developing town and village projects.

The funds are available for a project development measure, development of these proposals must be undertaken in consultation with the Councils appointed Town Regeneration Officer and local town/village community and business interests.

Ideally, projects should be identified through town planning, health checks, or similar studies conducted for the respective town or village. Projects must demonstrate a consultative process that engages the local community and businesses to gather their perspectives. Those failing to do so will not receive permission.

Funding can cover expenses such as detailed design, planning, procurement, professional fees, assessments, and various other development costs. This initiative will compliment other funding programs within the Department, such as the Town and Village Renewal Scheme and the Rural Regeneration Development Fund.

Maximum funding amount available is €50,000 per project with a grant rate of 90 per cent of the total project costs. Two applications from Waterford will be forwarded to the Department of Rural and Community Development for consideration of approval.

The expression of interest form should be completed with supporting documentation etc by 4.00pm, Wednesday 20 March 2024.
