The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has published a review of the flooding in the South East during Autumn 2023.
The review, jointly led by The Executive Office, the Department for Infrastructure, the Department for Communities, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, examined both the local tactical response and the strategic regional response to the extreme flooding events that severely affected Newry City, Downpatrick and Portadown.
The Department for Infrastructure engaged Jacobs to provide an independent technical analysis of the flooding causes and to propose viable solutions. The review outlined a total of 22 recommendations. These recommendations are currently under consideration and will be implemented by the various Departments and Agencies involved in the review.
