A Boil Water Notice which impacts County Tipperary has been lifted with immediate effect, Uisce Éireann has announced.
The notice on the Carrick-on-Suir (Linguan) Public Water Supply Scheme was issued on January 25 to protect the health of approximately 4,150 customers due to a deterioration in the raw water quality caused by elevated levels of ammonia which impacted the treatment processes at the water treatment plant.
The Carrick-on-Suir (Linguan) scheme supplies customers on the North side of the River Suir as well as Friar Street Upper, Corpse Road, Rack Hill, South Quay and Bridge street on the South side of the River Suir and surrounding areas.
Drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann worked to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible. Following satisfactory water sampling results and consultation with the Health Service Executive, customers can now resume normal use of the public water supply.
Uisce Éireann's Colin Cunningham acknowledged the impact of the Boil Water Notice on customers and thanked the community for their support while the notice was in place.
"Uisce Éireann's primary focus remains the protection of public health and we worked with our stakeholders to lift the notice as quickly as possible," said Colin.
"We are grateful to customers, elected representatives, and the media for their assistance in sharing information on the Boil Water Notice."
Uisce Éireann would like to remind customers on the Carrick-on-Suir (Crotty's Lake) Water Supply that the Boil Water Notice remains in place.
This supply serves: All areas South of the river except Friar Street Upper, Corpse Road, Rack Hill, South Quay and Bridge Street; North side of the River Suir - Hazel Close, Hawthorn Crescent, Asgrove, Oak Drive, Beech Ave, Sycamore Close and Mount Saint Nicholas; Townlands of Ross, Clonmoyle, Ballyhest, Ballygarret, Sheskin, Curraghduff, Joanstown in County Waterford.
All customers in these areas must continue to boil their water before drinking.
Colin Cunningham added: "We acknowledge the impact the ongoing Boil Water Notice for customers in Carrick-on-Suir supplied by Crotty's Lake is having. Public health is our number one priority. We wish to assure customers that we are working to resolve the issues at the water treatment plant as quickly and as safely as possible."
