Northern Ireland Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced a £300,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme for the Knockloughrim Link Road and Hillhead Road in Knockloughrim, near Maghera, County L'Derry, set to begin on Monday, April 28.
The resurfacing work will cover approximately 930 metres of the Knockloughrim Link Road and Hillhead Road, stretching from the Carricknakielt Road to property number 320.
Minister Kimmins commented on the investment: "This is a substantial investment for the Knockloughrim area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to investing in and improving our rural road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
To ensure the safe completion of the scheme, a full road closure will be necessary from the A6 Glenshane Road to the Broagh Road. This closure will be in effect each day from Monday, April 28, to Friday, May 9.
During the road closure, a signed diversionary route for through traffic will be in place, following the A6 Glenshane Road, A54 Magherafelt Road, A54 Main Street, A54 Moyola Road, C557 Knockloughrim Road, and C557 Hillhead Road.
The resurfacing works are expected to be largely completed by Friday, May 9.
