Offsite construction specialist McAvoy has named Matthew Usher as Healthcare Design Manager, signalling its continued investment in expert capability to support growth and deliver building solutions for NHS trusts and private providers.
Usher joins with a strong healthcare architecture pedigree, most recently as Project Architect at Corstorphine & Wright. He has delivered schemes across varied clinical settings and brings specialist expertise in creating compliant, adaptable and patient-centred facilities. At McAvoy, he will lead health-focused design projects across the UK and Ireland, helping to shape future modular facilities for both rental and sale.
The appointment comes as McAvoy’s healthcare portfolio expands in the UK and Ireland, following recent successes including work at Good Hope Hospital and a series of SmartCare rental facilities for acute and community environments. This year, McAvoy secured a place on the NHS Commercial Solutions Framework (Lot 2: Modular & Prefabricated Building Services) for the first time and was reappointed to the NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) Modular Building Framework for a third consecutive term.
Laura McCormick, Healthcare Strategy Lead at McAvoy, said: "Healthcare providers continue to face rising demand, operational pressures and budget constraints. Strengthening our design capability is a key part of our strategy to help trusts deliver the facilities they need, including optimising funding, accelerating delivery programmes, and supporting long-term adaptability. Matthew's specialist background in healthcare architecture will improve the service we provide at every stage of a project, from early engagement through to design and delivery. We’re delighted to welcome him to the team."
Usher will work closely with McAvoy's dedicated healthcare specialists and manufacturing teams as the company grows its sector offering. With at least 70 per cent of each facility manufactured offsite, McAvoy delivers high-quality, HTM/HBN-compliant buildings quickly and with minimal disruption, supporting both urgent and planned healthcare needs.
The business has also refreshed its healthcare identity under the McAvoy Health brand, reflecting a focus on flexible, future-proofed facilities for clinical and non-clinical environments across the UK and Ireland.
